How to get here
A car is essential to reach Ripostena — there is no public transport nearby, and the final 2.5 km are along an unpaved road. The first time may feel like a little adventure, but like many country roads in Tuscany, simply take it slowly and you will have no problems. The destination is well worth the journey.
The nearest airports are Florence (1 hour) and Pisa (90 minutes). Other convenient airports are Bologna (2 hours) and Rome (3 hours).
From Milan / Bologna / Florence
Take the Firenze Impruneta exit (formerly Firenze Certosa). At the roundabout, take the first exit and join the Florence–Siena motorway link towards Siena. Take the Colle Val d’Elsa Sud exit and follow the directions in the section «From the Colle Val d’Elsa Sud exit».
From Pisa
Take the FI-PI-LI expressway (SGC Firenze–Pisa–Livorno) towards Florence. Near Florence, join the A1 motorway towards FIRENZE / ROMA. Take the Firenze Impruneta exit (formerly Firenze Certosa). At the roundabout, take the first exit and join the Florence–Siena motorway link towards Siena. Take the Colle Val d’Elsa Sud exit and follow the directions in the section «From the Colle Val d’Elsa Sud exit».
From Naples / Rome
Take the A1 motorway towards FIRENZE / MILANO. Take the Val di Chiana–Bettolle exit. Join the Siena–Bettolle motorway link towards Siena. Near Siena, follow signs for Tangenziale / Firenze / Grosseto and continue towards Florence. Join the Florence–Siena motorway link towards Florence. Take the Colle Val d’Elsa Sud exit and follow the directions in the section «From the Colle Val d’Elsa Sud exit».
From the «Colle Val d’Elsa Sud» exit
From the Colle Val d’Elsa Sud exit on the Florence–Siena motorway link, follow signs towards Colle Val d’Elsa.
At the first roundabout, take the second exit and continue on the SP541 towards Grosseto. At the second and third roundabouts, take the second exit, continuing towards Grosseto, and follow the main road for approximately 1 km.
Turn left towards Scorgiano onto the SP101. At the next junction, after 350 metres, turn right, continuing towards Scorgiano.
After approximately 4.5 km, once you have passed the small village of Scorgiano, turn right towards Ripostena. Continue for approximately 3 km until you see the «Ripostena» sign on your left.
Turn left onto the unpaved road and continue for approximately 2.5 km until you reach the gate of Ripostena Country House.
